On April 28th, 2021 Miguel Lamboy traveled to Salida to report that the deceased body of Love Has Won leader Amy Carlson was in the groups Crestone house. During a nearly hour-long interview with detectives he described in detail the events of that day and day before. Miguel tells the detectives on several occasions that he had no idea the Love Has Won group had brought Amy’s body back with them from California. The Dateline special reported that the group kept Amy’s body overnight in their Nissan Rogue as they prepared the shrine in the back bedroom

The Guru Magazine is the only outlet to have interviewed Miguel Lamboy. He spoke about what happened that day when he discovered Amy’s body in the house as well as his status in the group. His statements were similar to what he told detectives in Salida.
After checking Miguel’s story, the Salida police contacted the Saguache Sheriff’s office who did a midnight raid on the home. Seven members were arrested but all the charges were later dropped. The Guru Magazine was first to publish the police bodycam footage of the Crestone raid.
Since the Guru Magazine first exposed Amy Carlson’s destructive Love Has Won cult last July the story has made international headlines including the Dr. Phil Show, Dateline, VICE, New York Times and People among many others.

All right, so my name’s Sergeant [Orr 00:00:03]. Can you give me a brief rundown of what’s going on?
Miguel Lamboy:
So yesterday I was out all day. I went to Monroe’s, then went to Wheat Ridge, and then I came back late at night and found a group of people from California and Oregon, West Coast, who just dropped by.
Sergeant Orr:
Do you know these people?
Miguel Lamboy:
Yeah, I know of them. Yeah, of course. And I was like, “Okay, what’s going on with a place to stay?” Then I was like, “Okay, cool.” So I allowed it. I know that they were with the lady that owns the organization, she was dying of cancer so I met her a few months ago. She wound up to pass.
Sergeant Orr:
Okay.
Miguel Lamboy:
And today I came back from a long day, I traveled back to Denver to drop [inaudible 00:01:04] a friend of mine’s sister. Tried to find a place in Buena Vista for me and my kids to rent out, and came back and they showed me to the bedroom and they showed me her that was a corpse, she’s a dead body. Gray, no eyes.
Sergeant Orr:
What do you mean no eyes?
Miguel Lamboy:
She’s been dead for a moment.
Sergeant Orr:
Okay.
Miguel Lamboy:
I don’t know how long. It’s been a moment.
Sergeant Orr:
So yesterday when they got to your house, she was alive and there?
Miguel Lamboy:
No, no, no, she died in… I didn’t know she was even there.
Sergeant Orr:
Okay.
Miguel Lamboy:
She was dead over there, I wasn’t aware.
Sergeant Orr:
Are these people still at your place?
Miguel Lamboy:
Yeah, they’re still there. I wanted to take my kid, they forced… They took my kid and forced him to stay there, and my kid was crying. The first thing I could do was just take the car and come straight over here.
Sergeant Orr:

Yeah, got home last night.

They were there already at the house.

Okay, and you didn’t see Lia last night?

So I’ll start from yesterday. Yesterday I went out early. I went out all day yesterday, I was doing shopping for materials in Colorado Springs, then [inaudible 00:11:48]. Initially I had dropped off a laptop in Montrose to a friend, then I traveled to Wheat Ridge to Habitat for Humanity.

Yeah, I left at like 6:30 AM.

Can you kind of explain what this Love Has Won group is?
Miguel Lamboy:
So Love Has Won is Lia’s teachings of community consciousness, heart consciousness, internal healing, feeling [inaudible 00:52:56]. Spiritual practices and meditation, [inaudible 00:53:05] so you had the healing of cancer. So that’s [inaudible 00:53:12] but she started getting sick.
Speaker 3:
How old was Lia, or is Lia?
Miguel Lamboy:
In her 40s.

Miguel Lamboy:
Sorry, to my memory of her. I moved towards just to create a nonprofit for all the Krystal Schools, create a [inaudible 00:53:38] nonprofit and moved the funds. Yeah, basically the funds [inaudible 00:53:47]. They’re under my name, it was always under my name, but we just had that bond, she had that trust in me to like, “Hey, I know I can trust you.” [inaudible 00:54:00].

What do you guys use the money for then?
Miguel Lamboy:
Products, stuff like that [inaudible 00:54:07]. And we have [inaudible 00:54:11] for donations. I separated myself but I still managed the finances because that’s what Lia wanted me to do. But I distanced myself from the group, and I just did that, and got into home renovations.
Speaker 3:
So what would they do, come to you and say they need some money, you get them money out or what?
Miguel Lamboy:
Yeah.

Yeah, and I was like who would come to get the money?
Miguel Lamboy:
They all would try.

So this Jason, when he’s talking to you about money, is he trying to get money from you?
Miguel Lamboy:
Yeah, he wanted [inaudible 00:54:42].

Well I think we have the gist of what happened. At this point we just have to relay this information up to Saguache. I’ll let them know. It’s their jurisdiction, so there’s not a lot other than the fact that we can kind of give them information to try to help them along. Now if this was in within our jurisdiction, we’re happy to help the best we can.
